Booster Chairs
Booster chairs come in many varieties, uses, and age-ranges. No two booster chairs are made alike. Some are designed to look like small high chairs, others are portable, and still others can be height-adjusted for different tables. Many can even convert from a baby chair to a toddler chair.
When buying a booster chair, there are several things you need to take into consideration: how you plan on using the chair, what features you desire, and if you plan on transporting it. Compact high chairs replace full high chairs and save space. Portable high chairs can fold up, suitable for traveling and eating out. Portable booster chairs are also a suitable option for parents who don’t feel comfortable using restaurant booster seats. One particularly convenient trait that some booster chairs have is height adjustment. This is especially nice if you plan on using it at tables of varying heights. Dishwasher safe trays are nice for messy eaters, and toy attachments are desirable for babies who get distracted easily.
Different ages of children require different booster chair features. Since babies need more sanitary eating areas, an easy-to-clean tray is a must. Seats for babies should also have good straps for strapping both the infant to the booster chair and the chair to the table and tray. Convertible and adjustable booster chairs are a good bargain, since they can be used for all different stages of life, beginning in infancy and continuing into preschool age. If you’re buying an adjustable seat, make sure to get one with a detachable tray for toddlers. Whether you choose a convertible chair or a toddler-only chair, make sure the chair fits the table. Some things marketed as “boosters” aren’t actually designed to be boosters.
A lot of parents wonder if they even need a booster chair at all. Is it a practical purchase? When your child outgrows an infant high chair, booster seats are a much better (and much safer) alternative to simply putting a phone book on the chair. And with so many options, it’s easy to find a booster chair that suits your needs.
